Last updated: June 2025. This policy explains what TrailerVault does — and does not do — with your data.

🛡️

Zero Data Collection — Guaranteed

TrailerVault was built on a single principle: your data belongs to you, full stop. We do not have servers. We do not have a database. We have no way of seeing your watchlist, your browsing activity, or anything about you — because none of it ever leaves your device.

What data does TrailerVault store? Local only

When you save a trailer, the following information is stored exclusively on your own device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:

  • The title you enter for the movie or show
  • The URL of the trailer page
  • The date and time you saved it
  • Whether you have marked it as watched

This data is stored inside your Chrome browser profile on your computer. It is never transmitted, uploaded, or shared anywhere.

What we do NOT collect None, zero, nil

We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifier
We do not track which websites you visit or what trailers you watch
We do not read, transmit, or analyse your saved watchlist
We do not use cookies, pixels, or any tracking technology
We do not share any data with third parties, advertisers, or analytics services
We do not have any servers, accounts, or cloud infrastructure
We do not collect crash reports, usage metrics, or telemetry of any kind

Permissions we request — and why

  • storage — to save your watchlist locally on your device.
  • activeTab — to read the title and URL of your current tab so we can auto-fill the form. This happens only when you click the extension icon. We never read tabs passively in the background.
  • tabs — to open trailer links in a new tab when you click them in your watchlist.

None of these permissions allow us to collect or transmit any data from your browser. They are the minimum required for the extension to function.

Third-party services

TrailerVault uses the Google Favicon service (google.com/s2/favicons) to display a small website icon next to each saved trailer. This is a request made directly from your browser to Google — the same way your browser loads any image from a website. We have no involvement in or visibility of this request. Google's own privacy policy governs it.

Apart from this, TrailerVault makes no external network requests of any kind.

Your control over your data

You are in complete control of your watchlist at all times. You can delete individual items at any time from within the extension. To erase all stored data entirely, you can clear Chrome's local extension storage via chrome://settings/siteData or by uninstalling the extension. When the extension is uninstalled, all locally stored data is deleted automatically.

Children's privacy

TrailerVault does not collect any personal data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because we collect nothing, there is nothing to manage under COPPA or similar legislation. The extension is safe for use by all ages.

Changes to this policy

If we ever update this privacy policy, the new version will be published on this page with a revised date at the top. We will never introduce data collection, tracking, or analytics without clearly communicating the change here first.
